Lisa Yankowitz, MA, is a PhD Candidate in clinical psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and graduate student working at the Center for Autism Research under the mentorship of Dr. Bob Schultz.  Ms.Yankowitz earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a certificate in neuroscience from Princeton University.  She completed a two-year post-baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award at the National Institutes of Health in the lab of Dr. Karen Berman.   Ms.Yankowitz is interested in brain development in neurodevelopmental disorders, and in the relationship between language and the brain.  At CAR, her research has investigated brain structure in ASD, and she is using newly-developed methods in a large dataset to help answer questions about brain differences and behavior.  Ms.Yankowitz’s research is also examining very early language development in infants at high familial risk for ASD, and the relationship between this early language development and the brain.  She is currently a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
