The ADOS-2 Introductory/Clinical Workshop is a 2-day or 3-day introductory training that provides clinicians with the skills necessary to utilize ADOS-2 in clinical settings:
- 2-day ADOS-2 introductory/clinical training workshop covering Modules 1-4
- 3-day ADOS-2 introductory/clinical training workshop covering Modules 1-4 plus one-day Toddler Module training workshop
Both ADOS-2 training workshops provide experienced autism professionals with introductory training on the use of the ADOS-2 in clinical settings across ages, developmental levels, and language skills. The training will be led by two ADOS-2 trainers: Dr. Whitney Guthrie, co-author of the ADOS-2 Toddler Module, and Dr. Elisabeth Sheridan, the Director of the Clinical Core at the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute.
The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of social communication and play or imaginative use of materials used with individuals suspected of having ASD. The ADOS-2 can be used to evaluate individuals at different developmental levels and chronological ages, from toddlers to adults, from individuals with no speech to those who are verbally fluent. It takes about 30-45 minutes to administer.
This workshop uses a lecture format and live demonstrations to introduce the basic principles of administering and scoring the ADOS-2 and provides an essential step toward competence in using the ADOS-2 in everyday clinical practice or for research purposes. Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of Modules 1-4 and/or Toddler Module, in addition to experience observing and scoring two assessments with the support of a certified trainer.
This workshop is designed for researchers and clinicians with prior background in ASD and formal testing such as clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, social workers, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and other clinicians/researchers working in ASD assessment.
The ADOS-2 Introductory/Clinical Training also serves as a mandatory prerequisite for the Advanced/Research Workshop, intended for those who want to use the ADOS-2 for research purposes or who want additional training beyond the 2-day Introductory/Clinical Training. If you are interested in attending a future Advanced/Research Workshop, please contact Dr. Whitney Guthrie at ADOStraining@chop.edu for more information.
