The Center for Autism Research is pleased to host a number of educational events for the community including workshops, open houses, and our Distinguished Lecture Series.


The 2010-2011 event dates are posted below. Events in red are open to the public; those which are blue are for faculty, employees and students at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. February 29, 2012 A workshop for parents of young children newly diagnosed w/ an autism spectrum disorder
Topics include an overview of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and accompanying conditions, available therapies and treatments and how to decide what interventions to pursue, and tips for supporting families living with ASD. Presenters will include specialists in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, speech and language issues, occupational therapy, special education law and researchers from the Center for Autism Research. Parents who have made the next steps with their children will participate in a group discussion.,

April 05, 2012 Children with ASD approaching adolescence have physical and social transition needs.
Likewise, parents need support in in developing a transition plan for their child. This workshop is for parents of an adolescent child with ASD and will include presentations from experts in neuorpsychology, behavior, medicine, and social work.
